Bolsa II: A Styrofoam Cup from the 90's

Every board has a personality. The Bolsa II has three.

A compact 34″ double-kick that comes three different ways: the Paris Complete for all-terrain riding, the Surfskate Edition with your choice of Carver CX or C7, or the Custom Complete you build component by component. One deck. Pick your truck.

Steven's on the Surfskate Edition (CX) above. Below: the deck underneath all three builds, what changes when you swap trucks, and how to pick the version that fits your line.

The Deck: 7-Ply Hard Maple, Subtle Rocker, Real Kicks

The Bolsa II is 34″ long and 9.4″ wide. 7-ply hard maple with two thicker cross-plies for torsional and longitudinal stiffness. A subtle rocker that sinks you into the deck for flowy turns and energetic pumping. Mellow wheel flares for a solid, unobtrusive lock-in that still accommodates bigger, softer wheels. And functional kicks: a steep nose that ramps up immediately for quick front-foot engagement, and a tail tuned with a comfortable back-foot pocket built to drive the board forward.

The All-Terrain Build: Paris V3

The Paris Complete runs Paris V3 165mm 50° reverse kingpins, high-rebound Orangatang Fat Free 65mm 86a wheels, and Loaded Jehu V2 bearings. The smaller trucks give you control and strength. The harder Fat Frees round out a lean, all-terrain machine ready for the pump track, a midday bowl run, and the ride home.

Configured on the 17.5″ wheelbase for stability at speed. This is the version of the Bolsa II that goes anywhere.

The Surfskate Build: CX or C7

Mount Carver trucks on the Bolsa II and the same deck flips into a surfskate. The Surfskate Edition ships with two truck choices.

The CX up front gives you snappy, shortboard-like turns with the response of a real surf truck. The C2 in back keeps the rear honest, so you can still ride fakie, land aerials, and not fight the board when you stop pumping. Split Orangatang bushings: purple Knuckle roadside and orange Nipple boardside in front, with yellow Nipples in the rear for drive. Configured on the 16″ wheelbase for tighter turning.

The C7 is the smoothest turning, fastest pumping surfskate truck we carry. It runs the fluid, lateral sway you feel surfing on a longer board, the way the rail draws across the wave face as you pump. We pair it with a purple Knuckle in the C2 rear for drive and rebound. Configured on the 17.5″ wheelbase for longer, drawn-out carves.

Both Carver builds ride on orange Orangatang Love Handles: 80a on the CX for snap and edge, 77a on the C7 for a softer, smoother sway. The CX is what Steven's riding in the video at the top of the post.

"It reminds me of a styrofoam cup from the 90's." Loaded Ambassador Steven, on the Bolsa II Surfskate (CX)

The Custom Complete: Build It How You Ride

If neither pre-built complete is the version of the Bolsa II you're after, build your own. The Custom Complete starts with the deck and lets you pick the components that match your line: trucks, wheels, bushings, bearings, hardware. Run street trucks for park days. Run reverse kingpins for an all-terrain machine. Run a Carver and lock into the surfskate side. Two wheelbase options give you 16″ for tighter turning or 17.5″ for stability at speed.

This is the version for riders who already know what they like.

Which Bolsa II Should I Choose?

Three builds, three different riders. Here's the short version of who each one is for.

Pick the Paris Complete if you want one ready-to-ride deck that handles street, park, and the city push without making you choose. Paris V3 reverse kingpins and Orangatang Fat Frees are built for terrain, not for one specific style.

Pick the Surfskate Edition (CX) if you're looking for very snappy turns and want to replicate the quick response you feel as you pump a surfboard. You want to pump this truck but still have the capability to land aerial maneuvers and ride fakie with more stability.

Pick the Surfskate Edition (C7) if you want the fluid, lateral sway you feel surfing as you pump. You're looking for the smoothest turning, fastest pumping surfskate truck that has a striking similarity to short-board surfing.

Pick the Custom Complete if you already have a setup in mind. Bring your own trucks and wheels, or mix and match from the parts we carry, and dial in the build component by component.

The deck is the constant: compact, stiff, with a back-foot pocket built to drive the board forward. The trucks change the personality. The right one for you is the one that matches the lines you already ride.

Pick your truck.
